Annoying Toys

Posted on June 7, 2011 Written by Tonya

As long as they keep him happy, busy and out of my hair, he can keep them.

For now.

This post is for Jessica (My Time As Mom), Kate (Mommy Monologues) and Elena’s (Mommy is in Timeout) meme, Vlog Talk. The prompt I chose was #1: A toy your child plays with that drives you up the wall and why.

Ok I am not laughing at your pain, but I am laughing with it. I had a year where I thought perhaps people were buying me toys with the intent to be annoying and to drive me bonkers. You are so right though, for the kids, often the most annoying toys for my are the favorites for my boys. This is such a real daily issue. We had a truck that would play a song and then drive and it would not shut off. CMJ would call out at night and say "mom the truck keeps driving" and I would have to dig through the toy box to try and find the truck. Honestly it took me months before I figured out which truck it was and how to turn it off so we all could sleep. Great topic.

Tonya, I believe that there should be a set standard for volume control and an on and off button! We had a delightful (not) Mc Donald's toy car that made peeling out sounds on it's own mind you, that got put in one of the toy bins. It kept making those awful screeches when the boys were in bed. One night I went on the rampage and found that evil car. It went out to the dumpster and we have lived happily ever after without it. Someday I may share my "Elmo Knows My Name" doll story. A truly evil and possessed toy. It is the reson I dislike Elmo to this day. Jeleystorey

My favorite part was when you turned the volume off the toy before handing it to Lucas. I was laughing out loud at that.

lol I'm with Jessica, I was laughing when you turned the volume off!

There's another vlog on here (got to remember which one) and her husband is a genius & he rewired one of the toys so it would have volume control! Like I said, GENIUS!!!

Not a fan of Thomas the Train! Those things can really do some damage. We once went on a trip with another family and their son had that Elmo toy! Oh my goodness I about went insane hearing that in the car for SIX hours!!! Lucas is adorable!

I love that you kept it off when you gave him back his toy. Perfect move! We actually don't have any Sesame Street toys somehow and I don't plan to get any soon. We have a ton of the Thomas trains as well. Especially the theme song singing ones. I hear those trains in my sleep!

Ha ha, I agree with Jessica and Elena! So hilarious! I used to turn the volume off their toys too! We had a very annoying Playschool Elephant that used to drive me totally INSANE! Love this vlog! It's good to see you and little Lucas! Pretty Mama = Gorgeous little boy 🙂 XOXO

I loved that you turned it off before you gave it back to him! I'm guilty of the same thing!

We have a billion of those Thomas trains too. And that annoying Sesame Street pop up thing too. Those toys should die. 🙂

first? I LOVE that you made the same face I did when Elmo shouted in MY ear on my vlog? Also? How much do I HATE toys with buttons on top that you hear go off randomly because a toy shifts in the toy box and hits the button? UGG!

Loved this, Tonya! Love "seeing" you!! 🙂
