Name That Kindergartner – Update

Posted on March 10, 2013 Written by Tonya

Update: The winner of the $300 Amazon gift card is Amy Pike. Second and third place go to Renee and Julie.

Here’s my then and now.

then and now

To see the answers for everyone else, look below.

I remember 5 things about kindergarten:

1. Riding the bus and one terrifying time I didn’t get off at my stop. A police escort may have been involved.

2. Stapling my finger with my teacher, Miss Mills’ red stapler.

3. Naps (glorious naps!) on army cots and the puddles of drool my classmates and I would leave behind.

4. Drawing a picture of my family of four, when there were only three of us. There was a parent/teacher conference and many discussion about lying and my desire to have a little sister.

5. The time I told the lunch monitors that I was allergic to bananas, they made me eat one anyway and I threw up all of her and myself. It also happened to be Picture Day.

I also remember tasting Elmer’s glue (c’mon, you know you did it too!), the smell of Crayola crayons and the squishy delight of finger paint. I loved kindergarten, but man, did I have a dreadful haircut!

A bunch of blogger friends and I have been reminiscing about kindergarten and put together something fun for our readers!

We present to you:

But damn you were cute! And you know, I’m not sure I ever tasted the glue. Or maybe I did and that’s why I don’t remember anything about kindergarten.

I’m glad we did this. Enjoying it already!

Ouch with the stapler, and you saw into your future with the little sister, right? Love your memories, so fun!

So happy to be doing this with you and all the other ladies!

I rode the bus too and that terrified me at first. I would have cried if I missed my stop. You poor thing!

It is the harder things that stick out sometimes, right? I remember getting lost in the woods behind our house on my way to school. Woods, by the way, that you could SEE THROUGH to the school. I have that same stellar sense of direction now!

you’re so right! I tried the glue too! And the smell of crayons..ah. the smell of school supplies in general. Loved that.

Cady had her second grade teacher convinced that she has a baby sister. I still have no idea why she did it.

Can you imagine today if a kid said they were allergic to something and the monitors made them eat it anyway??!!

Getting off the wrong stop must have terrified your parents even more than you. I know it would me.

And the smell of pencils being sharpened!

Those mean lunch ladies! And also, EW. 😀 I would have been TERRIFIED too if I had missed by bus stop. You never forget something like that!

Aw. That family picture of four – I totally get that. I sooooo wanted a little sister.

What the heck was up with those lunch ladies!? I had some mean bully lunch ladies in my memories too. One was named Mrs. T. Which seemed really appropriate at the time.

I love the family portrait story and the banana. I told my teacher I was allergice to “salad” when we were served cole slaw once. I’m sure that was embarrassing for my parents at open house when she asked them about it.

  14. Laura says

Yours is one of my favourite pictures, I think because you still seem to have the same smile. And you can find comfort that you definitely didn’t have the worst haircut.

I never tasted glue, that I know of.

Quite memorable moments for you! i am glad you puked banana on the person who insisted she knew more that you did.

I love your five shared things! (Also? I remember tasting Elmer’s paste. The kind in that little jar with kind of a spatula. Like a spoon 😉 )

And I once stapled my finger with a Hello Kitty stapler. Abbey has no idea how much that little cat still scares me…

    xo

  18. Arnebya says

That’s what they get, making you eat a banana (although I’m sorry it was also picture day.) Oh, naps (it’s OK that I still take them, right? Nearly every day, at my desk. What?)

How fun! I know which one is yours! 🙂
