I had heard rumors that with your second child, you start showing sooner than with your first. Your body has been here before, your stomach muscles aren’t as strong as they were due to the stretching from your first pregnancy, blah, blah, blah.
Turns out, this is true. SO true!
With Lucas I was almost 16 weeks along before there was a real bump. This time around and the real reason we had to share our news, I popped at just over 13 weeks. A full three weeks earlier! I had wanted to wait to tell people until we had made it half way, but, with a dead giveaway right smack dab in the middle of my body, we had to come clean.
I stuffed myself into my favorite pair of size 29, low rise jeans for the Justin Timberlake/Jay Z concert on July 28, the first day I really noticed my body was changing and although it didn’t keep me from dancing my ass off, I was uncomfortable as hell the entire night.
It took my husband a few days after that to get to our storage unit but I was giddy when he walked in the door carrying this….
my relief.
I wore my first maternity clothes at 14 weeks 3 days.

I might share photos at some point. I’m a good pregnant person, very few typical symptoms and I feel really good. I know I’m rare and VERY lucky.
I think the reason I have such conflict with my middle child is because I stuffed her in a pair of Spanx for a wedding before I was ready to announce.

I was 15 weeks at my best friends wedding (in it of course)… looked like I was a solid 5 months. I remember being very vague with people about my due date. Enjoy it.

I’ll never forget staring in a mirror, changing clothes before we were ready to tell people with Dylan. NOTHING worked, and I kept asking, “Does this make me look pregnant or just fat?” Ryan was at a loss. “There’s no good way to answer that!”
Nope! I don’t like that stage between looking and feeling fat and being pregnant, but I really don’t care what my body does, I’m embracing it. As long as I can be comfortable. (:
Oh, how this makes me smile. The same happened with me with the second and third (and the third was like whoa). I’m getting so giddy and excited for your family.

Thanks, Jackie! So far I’ve gained almost 20lbs. (eek!!) and have 19 weeks to go. While I’m embracing my new shape, I’ll be dreaming of those pre-pregnancy jeans.

I showed earlier with #2, although I can’t remember by how much. I remember those uncomfortable days before I started wearing maternity clothes, too. Always so much more comfortable with them. So happy for you!

I had to switch to maternity clothes sooner with #2 mostly because I felt restricted with normal clothes. I’m glad I did because a week after I began showing significantly! I think I was limiting his space! š exciting to wear comfy clothes that fit you comfortably right? xo
