I Don’t Like Coffee

Posted on August 6, 2010 Written by Tonya

I don’t like coffee.

There, I’ve said it.

Sacrilegious in some circles, I realize, especially those of the mom-kind.

(crickets chirp)

How many readers have I lost?

Well, if you’re still with me and I sincerely hope you are, I know I’m in the minority on this. People LIVE for coffee it seems and can’t even function without a cup of joe first thing in the morning. I’ve known people that drink it all day long. Blech!

I have tried coffee, lattes, cappuccinos and espressos several times throughout my life, but just never acquired a taste for it. I don’t like coffee anything… ice cream, chocolate covered coffee beans, etc. My parents didn’t drink coffee either, so maybe not growing up with it has something to do with it.

I do enjoy the smell of coffee and I like it being a part of my morning. My husband ADORES coffee and we have the mugs, coffee grinder, filters, coffee maker, bags of roasted decaf, I don’t know what in our freezer and an enormous espresso maker on our kitchen counter to prove it.

SO, what gets me going in the morning you ask? A crisp, delicious, effervescent diet Coke. Just describing it makes me smile from ear to ear.

Diet Coke is my “go juice”. I typically two a day, but one is all it takes to make my world right.

The best is yet to be.

If you like words too, play along!
This week’s word is effervescent.

No coffee? What? I never would've guessed it!

But there is nothing better than an ice cold Diet Coke…totally with you on that!

    It's ok I still love ya! =)

I'm all about an ice cold bubbly soda too!

Agreed. Coffee is lame. And, I'm not a fan of Diet Coke or any soda for that matter, but a lime sparkling water makes my day worth it!

For me? Coffee has been an acquired taste. And it was easier to acquire when it's buried in sugar & milk. LoL At this point, I can drink it with only a little milk in it (sugar has calories & I have issues with artificial sweeteners).

But, I still love ya, even if you're not part of the Coffee Mafia. ;o)

This is hilarious. I have been in love with coffee since I was about 8, when my mom would sneak me sips of the Jamocha shakes from Wendy's. My dad swore it would stunt my growth. (I am 5'5" but the shortest woman in my very tall and very numerous family.) Anyway, it is probably the best for your health that you are not a coffee addict, as the high caffeine content is not the best. I love Diet Coke, too, but husband hates it. He says it's like drinking plastic; I sometimes just sneak it when he's not around, so I don't have to hear it from him!

Sidebar: When I was pregnant, the THOUGHT of the SMELL of coffee was enough to make me vomit. But that went away with the birth of my baby boy.

Well you haven't lost me, and yes I live for coffee. I even posted a picture of my new starbucks travel coffee mug and my egg sandwich on Facebook titled "Pure Bliss". But my husband is like you. He hates coffee, even hates the smell of it. So I brew it when he leaves the house for work. His morning pick me up is usually an ice cold Doctor Pepper!

Came here via your tweet! 😉

Nope, I'm still here….and I love my one, big mug of coffee in the morning as long as it has sugar, chocolate syrup, and half & half! So coffee purists (like my hubs) don't count me amongst their ranks anyway.

I LIVED on Diet Pepsi in my younger years…morning, all day, and into the night.

I don't like coffee either. Everyone just assumes that everyone else likes coffee but it's so ICK. I prefer a Pepsi in the morning 🙂

I hate coffee AND the smell of coffee. I used to be a Mountain Dew in the morning type of gal, but my pregnancy got me hooked on water and granola bars first thing in the morning. And THEN bring on the Dew. LOL

I'm with you-coffee is DISGUSTING!!! Ugh! I don't like anything flavored coffee and i actually don't care for the smell either. I do love chai teas and lattes from Starbucks but thats it.

I'm not a fan of chocolate, so I can forgive your lack of interest in coffee!
