You’ve Got A Friend In Me

Posted on December 16, 2010 Written by Tonya

1. Thoughtful
2. Meticulous
3. Curious
4. Reserved
5. Loyal

When you first meet me, you might think I’m shy, quiet, obstinate, stuck-up, or even bitchy. And those five words describe me pretty well too.

Sometimes.

You see, I don’t let just anyone and everyone in. I have a very close knit circle of friends and only a very few get to ever know the real me, but once I decide to let down my guard and share myself, you will have a friend in me for life.

You can trust me to be faithful and true

You can trust me through and through

When you hurt, I hurt

I’m always here to comfort

I’m the friend you can call in the middle of the night

Tell me your troubles and I’ll help you see the light

I may not always have the best advice to give

But I’ll listen with an open mind and heart and always be supportive

When you need a friend, I’ll be there

This I promise, this I swear

This post is for Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop – Prompt #2 Describe yourself in five words. Choose one, and write a poem.

    Very pretty.
    This was very well put.
Although not quiet or reserved by any means… I too, don't get close to too many.
But the one's I do get close to, well, they might as well be family.
    This was beautiful. Thank you.

I think it is so much better to have a small handful of close friends than a big circle of acquaintances. Beautifully written x

I doubt anyone who knows me would use such nice words to describe me. Including myself. I've got funny going for me though. I intend to hang onto that!

Hi Tonya, I think this was the hardest prompt! You did a great job with it. I am the same way to a degree – introverted at heart but also a people lover. Odd! A personality thing I took once described it best about me: "you often have a very humorous internal dialogue going about the world around you, you just don't say it out loud!" Blogging is resulting in me saying it (via writing) more than I used to!!

I'm a lot like you: quiet and reserved until I get to know you. I think a lot of people would call me a snob or a bitch :p

    Lovely poem 🙂

I've learned that being quiet and shy translates into being a hateful wretch to most people. It just takes awhile to to get to know those of use who are reserved!

Just what a friend should be.

And a poet as well 😉

Like I've told you before, you can be hard to get to know but once you do, there is so much goodness and awesomeness in you! : ) Cute poem!
