If I Could…

Posted on November 27, 2011 Written by Tonya

Everyone in my house has been sick for weeks.

Nothing more serious than colds, but the lingering cough has become beyond annoying.

Poor Lucas has suffered the longest and I feel terrible for him. His sleep is disrupted and play time hindered.

His life would greatly improve if he could only blow his tiny little nose.

We run a humidifier at night and have gone through a tub of Vicks VapoRub.

Like every mother, I don’t want my son to suffer from anything. Ever. And if I could, I’d take away his cough.

I would also make sure he never had a blister, ice cream headache, pimple, paper cut, cold sore, food poisoning, heart burn, hiccups, allergies, body odor, carpal tunnel syndrome, sleepless night, heart break, skinned knee, hang nail, chafing, sprained ankle, jet lag, heat stroke, tennis elbow, crick in his neck, bruise, pink eye, dandruff, stubbed toe, sunburn, tooth ache, dislocated shoulder, cracked rib, electric shock, torn ligament, fever, sore throat, or hacking cough.

I would just settle for being able to prevent my family from passing this nasty cold back and forth and make preschool a healthy place to be rather than a cesspool of germs and ick.

I’m just saying…

Here too! Tis the season. If I cure hangnails, especially the self inflicted ones, forever…I really would 😉 Hope he feels better soon.

I hope Lucas feels better soon! Emma needed stitches last week after falling at school, and when the school called to let me know, my heart nearly stopped. I’ve become such a worried person since I became a Mummy. I’d do anything in the world to be able to protect them all the time. Big hugs to you all xoxo

Sometimes being a mom sucks. I feel so powerless.

Poor Emma… is she okay? I dread receiving that phone call.

Sending much love your way. xoxo

If only we could keep them safe and sound in protective bubble forever.

      On second thought… nah!

One of the perks of preschool is that they build up immunity and end up missing less school when they are in “big school” Doesn’t make stuffy noses any easier now though.

I agree and I think it is the plight of a mother to feel that way. I see things my kids do and think if I could save him this pain or end result in anyway – but you are his mother so he will be a strong soul and get through anything he is faced with, you too! Who knew motherhood would be soo great and yet soo hard. I sure didn’t.

My pediatrician told us that most kids are sick with some variations of cough, cold, and runny nose for the first year of school. I remember how frustrated I was that my little one being sick from being around all those other kids. I hope you all are feeling better soon.

My daughter used to get sick all the time from preschool. Then of course she would bring it home to me. Was always terrible.
